Episode 18 - Sunday, July 26, 2015

ជំរាបសួរ!,
"រស់...មិនស្លាប់ !" (LIVE...NOT DEAD) Well... my last transfer with Elder Olsen went by so fast! Wow! Hahaha! Since the 24th of JULY just want to tell you all a Happy Pioneer Day! https://history.lds.org/overlandtravels/  Here's how'd this week pretty much went! :

Last Tuesday: District Meeting's been excellent! After the meeting me and Elder Olsen did a lot of contacting throughout this day talking finding new investigators to teach in this area! Taught with Look Poo អូន (Oun) an active member who's a "Motto-Dope" about a General Conference talk from Elder David A. Bednar, we invited him to find anyone who wants to learn about this Gospel because it has so much importance anyone's life. Lastly on this day, me and Elder Olsen taught តារា about Obedience and following the Ten Commandments, he's so cool and has a super strong vocabulary... Love him though! He's understood the importance of being obedient and living the Ten Commandments!

Last Wednesday: We visited a less active named Dorum (romanized sorry! Argh! Hahaha!), a very nice and cool អំ or "Ohm". We taught him about Lehi's dream and it's the same central idea about how important it is to take time to keep sharing the Gospel because it helps each and everyone of us on Earth! Took time to search and know many other members with in the area! Plus, do phone calls to meet up with them throughout the week! Before REAN English Program meeting and Class Session. Me and Elder Olson met up with a less active Look Poo named Dong Sobou! (I really need to figure out how to type in Khmer.... hahaha!) A very nice Look Poo who has concern and we taught all we can teach to help him and his family on spiritual needs. Since he's happy to know that we're here for him he invited us for Lunch tomorrow! REAN English Program's been a blast as usual teaching all who attend about Goals and Dreams in the Easy Class. Office Elders joined in this Class session as well to help all who attend to learn about the English language. Super fun!

Last Thursday: After weekly, we've done more CBR searching and doing phone calls for new investigators to extend invitation to have some people learn about Christ and the Gospel! Then, I met along with Elder Olsen a less active member named "Mine" (Sorry romanized again...) and talk with him about the "Come and See" talk (General Conference) and extend invitation for him to share what he's learned about the gospel with his friends. After that we gave a sick and afflicted blessing to a អំ. A returned missionary needed our help to bless her as we came around his area as visit around there.

Last Friday: We went around contacting, do phone calls for potential investigators and member to see how available anyone is... then we taught some less actives around "Odom" named Seang Hong (Pray, reading scriptures and be obedient.), Lina (enduring to the end), and visit Bong Visal to give a sick and afflicted blessing to his wife!

Last Saturday: Did so much more contacting, but I love talking to anyone around the area about the Gospel. Hehehe! Later on, we met a Look Poo named Gul who's a former investigator who's a friend of Poo Oun (he helped us as well to teach him!) We reminded him about the importance of the restoration of the gospel and why's the Book of Mormon's so important to read and pray about. We committed him to pray and read often in the Book of Mormon so he'll gain stronger faith! Later on, we met a referral from Tuek Thla Elders. Turns out we have 2 new investigators to teach with in the area! Whoo! Then later on tonight we had a huge activity with the Ward that's about Pioneer Day, watching the Legacy Movie dubbed in Khmer and had lots of Khmer food such as Num buh chuk! Mmmmm! Some investigator attended the activity as well! It's been super fun on this day!

Yesterday: Church's been phenomenal as usual! One of our investigator named CAT came to church today and loves to learn a whole lot in Church and the Pioneers about what they've done to travel and hasten what God needs them to do. Oh after Church... there's more left over Num buh chuk! Hahaha! Throughout this day we a lot talked to an investigator that close to the church who works a lot and is determined to learn English. We invited him to baptized and be part of the church because we taught him that what we're teaching is true and has importance for him. (We emphasis for him to really start praying and reading in the Book of Mormon!) Then today with visit Socia and his family! -and share the same message from David A. Bednar! 😁

TRANSFER CALL ALERT! I have new companion coming in this week named Elder Uhi, the tongan OOOOO! Elder Olsen's working in the Mission Home as an Office Elder! He's started working there today! ☺

(I will have some time time to teach some people in Pochentong with the Tuek Thla Elders.)

Please take some time to read some links I shared with you all in this post it's worth the time to study! I love doing the Lord's work! Episode 17 - Sunday, July 19, 2015

ជំរាសួ!,

"រស់...មិនស្លាប់ !" (LIVE...NOT DEAD)  Still alive serving and sharing all about the Gospel of Jesus Christ! (I realized that starting tomorrow, I am about 1/4 or 6 months done serving in the Cambodia Phnom Penh Mission!)  I hope each and everyone of you are doing wonderful! It's been another fun week in ពោធិ៍ចិនតុង! (Pochentong) I hadn't thought missions seems to go by super quick as I thought that it's bit hard to wrap my mind around. Hahaha! Well, so here's how did last week went!
Last Tuesday: District Meeting's been good, after that we taught ស្រី Moom (that's how's me and Elder Olsen's investigator's name spell! Hahaha!) the importance of being Obedient to the Commandments of God and why studying the scriptures especially the Book of Mormon's so important. Throughout our time we gave her a Vietnamese Book of Mormon. She knows how to read Vietnamese, but don't know how to read in Khmer. She speaks Khmer well but kinda has hard times understanding our gospel vocabulary in Khmer as we share what we need to share with her at times as she still wants to truly learn about the Gospel. Since she's given the Vietnamese Book of Mormon she jumps right into reading it and ask us some questions about what she's reading. Look Poo ឈួន អាន's  (Cheun An) usually there to helps us explain what we said to her as we're teaching her, but she had strong desire to be baptized soon!  (She's been progressing really quick it's amazing!)

After that I visit a couple of less actives to help them come back to church and help them in there spiritual needs, after that we met another investigator named តារា and taught him about The Gospel of Jesus Christ. បុរាណ (Boran, who's called to serve mission at Sacramento, California) helped us teach him throughout that time to, it's super fun discussion!

Last Wednesday: During this day we visited a Less Active named Sing Heang who came from Korea! He knows how to speak English, Korean. and Khmer! He's been a member of this Church since he was baptized in Korea! We just taught him about the Gospel of Jesus Christ or pretty much review the Gospel of Jesus Christ in Khmer since that's his native language. He's a super nice and cool guy!!  As we were proselyting in this day we were going to prepare for Rean English Program. ( English Class) by visiting the usual printing place we go to throughout this transfer every Wednesday, but as we go there the place was burnt by fire so we went to another place to prepare for Rean English Program! (It was pretty devastating how we arrived there and the building's completely burnt.) However, Rean English Program was super fun we just taught those who attend about "School" and word pronunciations with O's and the vocabulary that tags along with the topic of school! After the class session me, Elder Olsen, and the Sisters taught as spiritual thought about the articles of faith and why we believe in the first 4 articles of faith! It's been fun to teach about the English and share a spiritual thought after English Class.

Last Thursday: After planning for next.... this week! We visit an investigator named Soca who's a tailor or works at a sowing shop. We had help from បុរាណ's brother Abraham to teach him about he plan of salvation! He ask good questions and loves to listen to us. (Soca also loves to come to English Class, that's how we managed to have him have some desire to learn about the Gospel!) Also, we also taught តារា about the importance of studying scriptures before we did so we read the Book of Mormon with him. He's learning a lot! Plus, he loves to take time to pray and has shared his experience about praying. He's a really cool and nice investigator, talks a lot, but very nice and wants to learn a whole lot.

Last Friday: Met up with fluent English speaking ភក្តី another investigator of ours in the morning and taught him about most of Plan of Salvation with him! We loves what we're teaching in Khmer and has so much interesting on learning a lot about the English language! He's so fantastic!  Further more on the day we took time to help បុរាណ practice teaching lessons such as the Plan of Salvation! Oh after that we had a big dinner with the Bishop and his family along with our recent convert បង ចន្ធី! Man, the food's just AWESOME over in this mission ever though I know so foods already! Hahaha!

Last Saturday: We spent time doing a whole lot of contacting with in this day along with English Class contacting. During the day the sisters needs my companion Elder Olsen to interview 2 Teuk Thla investigators who's ready for baptism! (Because he's district leader.)
The days been fun since there's been interesting people to talk to around this area!

Yesterday: Church's ounce again phenomenal! A couple investigators
ភក្តី and his brother សំណាង showed up in church on that day and after Church we taught them about how to Pray and reviewed a bit of the Plan of Salvation with them! Later on, we taught an investigator named CAT who's an Rean English Class student and also taught him the Plan of Salvation! He's an awesome guy, loves to understand what we're teaching!  CAT has a unique character I love about him as he's our investigator besides him being a fluent English speaker. He's shared a lot what he's gone through and does try out what we taught him from the spiritual thought session of English Class. He's learn a lot of the importance of the words of wisdom. We invited to be baptized after teaching him he wasn't sure yet, but we'll help him have a stronger desire!

Well everyone this weeks been a really fun and spiritual as supposedly or usual as I serve here in Cambodia serving my own heritage, it's been a ginormous adventure so far in my mission! I TRULY LOVE MY MISSION despite the hardships! I am doing fantastic! I love to hasten the Lord's work all day and everyday as necessary!
Ohhhh  បាទ! I have been doing a lot in this mission such as giving blessings to those who really need it and inviting so many to come unto Christ! I really witnessed so many miracles just from taking time to serve the Lord and others in this mission! I wouldn't do all I could along with Elder Olsen, Elder Child, Elder McGavin, and Elder Hall if it weren't for the companionship of Holy Ghost and the gift of tongues to work and dwell along with us! I love ALL who I serve here! I am still very determined to continue to be a better missionary each and every day! It's hard to still believe that I am about quarter of my mission done already my goodness AHH!! HAHAHA!  I guess that's what happens when any missionary... works with diligence, care, charity and LOVE with in this mission!  Well gotta blast! STAY FANTASTIC! I LOVE EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU!

"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works."

- 2 Timothy 3:16-17

Oh yeah!, I want to take take to also testify that the Book of Mormon's another word of God it goes along with the Holy Bible! I know that Joseph Smith Jr.'s a prophet of God, who's translated it with the gift of Holy Ghost and power of God. God's a merciful God! He loves and cares for us! He listens to our prayers! I know that the atonement's so important for each of our lives that as we have faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, we can all strive to become better followers of Christ! Tagging along with my testimony of missionary work/fun!... I testify that missionary work's so important to do! That as each of us take time to share the gospel of Jesus Christ! ...we'll know the Doctrine of Christ a whole lot better than we can ponder!

Episode 16 - Sunday, July 12, 2015

ជំរាបសួរ!,
Hope's everyone's still fantastic as usual! I had to make this post short for this week, with a summary. I'll do the best I can to explain how I'm doing!:

So throughout last week, me and Elder Olsen had an exchange last Tuesday with to have Elder Cravens join us for a portion of the day. It's been super fun. We talked with a lot people throughout that day. Obviously, me and Elder Olsen did a lot of English Class contacting and talking to everyone within Pochentong and talking to anyone we bike by sharing about the importance of the Gospel of Jesus Christ! English Class last Wednesday's fun we just taught those who attended about words that relate to clothes. (In Easy class, me and Elder Olsen usually teach everyWednesday night in the Church building.) We made sure our recent converts are doing alright in this area as they are still learning further more of the Gospel. I've been pretty busy with Elder Olsen meeting up with our current investigator throughout this transfer. Last Friday, we had zone training, which's been an uplifting experience to learn from other missionaries in the North Zone and the current Zone leaders.

Church's been super great! (Phenomenal as usual.) After Sacrament Meeting in church the Stake Presidency is there to teach the congregation of the Pochentong Ward about the importance of the Sacrament and the Sabbath day itself! It's been a very spiritual day, talking to all the members of the Ward and still getting to know all as much I can! (A contact wanted to come to church today and called us to attend church, as this contact called us, church was over as he and his friends came to learn about the church. This contact came from the time when I was doing serve with Elder Olsen at  បុរាណ's home putting up poles and connect electricity/power to her home! This contact's name ភក្តី we just taught him and couple of his friends about the Restoration of the gospel of Jesus with only about 15 minutes have 3 new investigators in a row throughout last week! Yep!....Hahaha!

I've been super busy as I have been working with Elder Olsen! The language's still developing, I still have a ton learning to do with in my time in the mission. I love all who I serve in this mission. I am laboring diligently as much as I can with Elder Olsen! I testify that the Holy Spirit has always been our best companion as we preach and teach everyone the Gospel of Jesus Christ! I am doing all I can throughout my time in this mission! Sorry, to cut this post short! But I am doing wonderful! Stay fantastic!

"Be thou humbleand the Lord thy God shall lead thee by the hand, and give thee answer to thy prayers." - D&C 112:10

Episode 15 - Sunday, July 5, 2015

ជំរាបសួរ!,

"រស់...មិនស្លាប់ !"- The actual phrase I hear a lot from many I meet and teach throughout my mission. Hahaha!
Hope everyone's doing fantastic at this time! So before I begin I just want to wish from June the 21st a Happy Fathers Day to every father! Plus, every American a Happy Independence Day to the US! (4th of July!) This week's been a super awesome week here's how's it so!

Last Tuesday: Throughout this day me and Elder Olsen basically went contacting and proselyting throughout this day while we're at it we came to the church building for our investigator បង ចន្ធី to have her be interviewed by our Zone Leader for Baptism! (She passed the interview and is ready for Baptism!)  Done for proselyting with love and visit a Look Poo named Poo Set, we just encouraged to listen to the audio scripture we gave to him in Khmer so he can continue to gain more knowledge from God's words, it was a very nice lesson as we extend invitation for him to listen to the Scriptures.

Last Wednesday: Then, we taught a Prospective Missionary/ Ward Mission Leader បុរាណ (who's about to serve a mission in Sacramento, California!) about the importance of family history! Plus, we just taught a gist of the Plan of Salvation to our investigator ស្រី Mon she know a lot already and fun one being taught along with her husband Look Poo ឈួន (Ju Ann). Rean English Program's fun to teach like usual seeing some students come to really learn English words. Yeppers! Plus, we had two new contacts and followed up to meet them to teach about the Church!

Last Thursday: After weekly planning, and the usual proselyting and contacting with love we took time to teach តារា who's a referral from the Sisters within our area. We tried to teach him about the church however, he talks a lot as we tried to teach him about the Restoration. I loved this investigator, he's learned about different sects of religion. Plus, has great experiences about Prayer. He's a very interesting one. Hahaha! I love serving in this mission!

Last Friday: On this day is the day we meet our New Mission President... President Christensen and Sister Christensen! They're a super nice couple as they're new leaders of the mission! What to know about them!: He grew up in Hawaii then moved to Utah when he was 18. He served a mission in Hong Kong, but then got transferred to open up Vietnam. He talked about how his mission president flew down with him and three other elders. He dropped them off in Saigon, told them they did not have any translated materials and then flew back to Hong Kong. They hired a Vietnamese girl that knew Cantonese to teach them Vietnamese and then worked with members of the branch to translate the first twenty chapters of The Book of Mormon into Vietnamese. He was there for six months. Two years later the country was closed again because the North Vietnamese took over. His wife is awesome as well. They are both vibrant and full of life. Then we go back to spiritual business on teaching here and there, and loving all who serve I serve along with Elder Olsen in this area! So further more of this day the Sisters in our area has their investigator ស្រី ឡែន who needs an interview for baptism and she's ready to be baptized and picked me to baptize her!

Last Saturday: Met with a new investigator named Soca who works at a Sowing shop and taught a Look Poo who's interested with the restoration of the Gospel! Plus, this is a BIG DAY for (our investigator) បង ចន្ធី and (sister's investigator) ស្រី ឡែន ...the day when they became Baptized! The day I also officially baptized someone first time ever in my life and in my mission! Everything went smoothly throughout the Baptismal Session! One of the most spiritual moments I ever experience in my life. I am so eternally grateful to be chosen by ស្រី ឡែន to baptize her!

Yesterday: Church's been phenomenal បង ចន្ធី and ស្រី ឡែន also attend Church to receive the the gift of the Holy Ghost and confirmed a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints! Throughout this session of church's Fast and Testimony meeting... my goodness... I heard so many wonderful testimonies throughout this Fast and Testimony meeting in Church in the Pochentong Ward. We met up with a new Investigator who's nicknamed CAT! Awesome guy... very open to hear from us! He's one of the English Class Student from Rean! He speaks very fluent English!

Well everyone, it's been a huge adventure so far in my mission! I STILL LOVE MY MISSION! I am doing awesome! I am choosing hasten the Lord's work! Oh  បាទ!
I've seen so many miracles just from taking time to serve the Lord and others in this mission! I love ALL who I serve here! I am still determined to continue to be a better missionary each and every day! Well gotta blast! STAY FANTASTIC!

I also want to dedicate this special Blog post to President Boyd K. Packer of the Twelve Apostles. Rest in Peace. I am truly thankful to hear many wonderful and heart warming remarks throughout the past time I hear from you in General Conferences.

“The Standard of Truth has been erected; no unhallowed hand can stop the work from progressing; persecutions may rage, mobs may combine, armies may assemble, calumny may defame, but the truth of God will go forth boldly, nobly, and independent, till it has penetrated every continent, visited every clime, swept every country, and sounded in every ear, till the purposes of God shall be accomplished, and the Great Jehovah shall say the work is done.” ― Joseph Smith Jr.
