Episode 14 - Sunday, June 28, 2015

ជំរាបសួរអ្នករាល់គ្នា!,
Hope everyone's been doing great while me and Elder Olsen are serving here in Pochentong! Well...Here's how'd this week went!:

Last Tuesday: District meeting's great! This day we went to teach a investigator named ស្រី Mon and her husband's a less active member we taught her and him about the importance of Prayer which's fun to teach, as we do our best to speak clearly to her husband Look Poo ឈួន (Chuan), has to repeat everything we say so she gets what are we saying... Yeah! Hahaha! She's been keeping commitments especially to pray often!

Last Wednesday: Me and Elder Olsen took time in a day to help a member move dirt from one place to another because it's on front of her and she needs it on the back of here where it's kinda flooded. Taught បង ចន្ធី (Chantii) another investigator about Tithing and Service along with the Bishop! Then on that night just taught the Easy Class in Rean English Program (English Class) about colors and shapes! It's been fun!

Last Thursday: Thursday... honestly we couldn't do any lessons for anyone because all we called are busy throughout this day so what we did is a WHOLE lot of contacting talking to people everywhere within Pochentong, and holding a sign on front of church and inviting people to English Class that occurs every Wednesday Night!

Last Friday: Did more contacting in the morning! I enjoy contacting! Later on we had another appointment with បង ចន្ធី to review Baptismal Interview Questions  with her brother Rithea who's a recent convert so she understand clearly what she'll be ask before she get interviewed! Busy...times happen throughout this day! But yeppers working hard serving the Lord!

Last Saturday: We visit a really nice investigator បង រី-t! We reviewed with him about the atonement and the Plan of Salvation. He has a very strong desire to be baptized and he told us that he quit his addictions such as drinking and smoking! He was mad from the past that Elder Olsen and his other companion Elder Ying had to delay his baptism (because he needs to learn more lessons about The Commandments and Laws within the Church) but he's cool now! Yeah he's opened to keep hearing from and listen more so that he'll receive his baptism and become a member soon!  Tons of contacting happened also! Hehehe!

Yesterday: Church was super phenomenal as I attend the Pochentong Ward for the first time ever! Me and Elder Olsen taught the Elder Quorum today about The Comforter from President Henry B. Eyring's talk from General Conference with in the Liahona! Then later on we took time to go contacting, pick up the Ward Mission leader as help us teach បង ចន្ធី to clarify about the importance of Prophets and the current Prophet of the Church today! It's fun and crazy because we got rained on the way to go to her house to teach her! Her house was pretty far! Hahaha! (Throughout time after church in the afternoon with also did some contacting, funny thing is every time someone says Hello as we pass by biking, we just stop by and just converse with anyone who say Hello to us and invite them to English class or learn about the Gospel!)

Well, I've been super busy with Elder Olsen over here but I love my new area where I'm currently serving there's so many things to do here! Gotta blast quick! I just want to say I love you all! Thank you all who's been praying for me! I missed everyone back home! I am not homesick as much as I used to! It's been an adventure here in Pochentong. This area's HUGE! So there's tons of souls to invite to Christ! Yeah! Me and Elder Olsen are doing great over here! God bless you all! (Sorry, there's isn't as much time I want to type a whole lot, because I am just lost in doing the work of the Lord! I LOVE THIS MISSION!) I love learning my mission language (My Khmer's growing gradually as gift of tongues work with me) and serving my heritage! Stay fantastic everyone!

Episode 13 - Around the airport. Sunday, June 21, 2015

ជំរាបសួរអ្នករាល់គ្នា!,
Welcome to this week's post! Well this week's pretty much a big transitioning week! My honestly missed all of the members and people I serve in Branch 2 of Ta Khmao. It's been a sacred privilege... Well  honestly this  is how this week pretty much went!

Last Tuesday to Last Friday: I shared a lesson along with Elder Child about the importance of Hope and bared testimony why it's super important to maintain hope on the atonement of Jesus Christ in our lives today. I loved all who I served in this area I do missed it. I might come back through my time in the mission I don't really know, but I know that God will determine that decision as I serve in this mission. I prayed and hoped that this branch will continue to grow and continue to have a very firm grip on the gospel as I transfer to Pochentong! It's a awesome and sacred privilege to have the opportunity to start serving in this new area with my "Mom" Elder Olsen.

Last Saturday: I just get familiar with parts of the ward and the area with Elder Olsen! Members are very nice over here! I took time in this day with Elder Olsen to meet up with a investigator who's husband's already a member of the Church we taught her a lesson about the Gospel of Jesus Christ and why's it's important to follow the savior's teachings and his example! Her husband talks a lot, but it's been fun talking and teaching them with the spirit! ...Yeah! Hahaha! After that, we attend a Stake Conference for the Young Single Adults at the North Stake Center to hear from the Presidencies of the areas of the Stake and the Mission President and his wife and an Area 70!

Yesterday: Church's Stake Conference for the entire congregation of Branches and Wards for this weekend loving greeting every member and those visiting the Stake Center! We just do some contacting, teach an a Sister of a member Ritea, named Bong Chantii who's still investigating the church and has a very firm desire to be baptized teaching her commandments such as Praying, Obeying, Studying Scriptures, and Enduring to the End holding on believing in God and Christ and keeping the commandments!  Later on, we just did contacting, helped a member move dirt (LOVE doing service!)  Plus, visited a former investigator that past missionaries haven't met since a couple months!

Well, this is going to be super fun and adventurous! I am enjoying this mission so much! I love it! I am thankful for the opportunity to serve in Pochentong with Elder Olsen! I love this Church, ALL who I serve! I hope to keeping pressing on and hastening into the Lord's work! The language's gradually improving. Still not super fluent yet! But as I study diligently I am sure I will able to speak this mission language when the time comes. We all just need to keep trusting God and a he'll us in all our trails and problems throughout this life! I hope to get familiar enough in my new area as much as possible! Oh I want to give a big shout out to the Gages from the Package they gave me! Thank you all so much and the Syracuse Ward that I missed you all and I am very thankful from your letters and your love. Thank you all from keeping me in your prayers! I am going to keep this up! This is going to be fun serving around the city! Gotta blast! God bless you all! STAY FANTASTIC! .... ទៅយើង!

This is going to super fun and adventurous while working around in the city!

Episode 12 - The End of Training. Sunday, Jun 15, 2015

ជំរាបសួរអ្នករាល់គ្នា!,
Welcome to this week's post! Had a busy and yet fun week! Making phone calls for appointments with investigators and members! It was super fun! Here's how last week went throughout my 2nd to last week of training!:

Last week was all about me leading ALL teaching situations and plans for the week! Which was crazy, complicated, and stressful, but super fun! (Very brief because just getting busy into the mission fun! Hahaha!)

Last Tuesday: Had an exchange with Elder Jones as he joined me and Elder Child for the day! We had district meeting. Lunch at Lucky Burger and we just teach Look Poo Ughn about the Parable of the Sower and we teach this parable all day to all other members and less-actives! Plus, we did some English Contacting for the next day! Love contacting for English Class!

Last Wednesday: In English Class, I was teaching along with Elder Child about Public Speaking in Advanced English Class! We were also answering questions those who attended the class session! I also gave a Spiritual Thought about the importance of Hope after Class! I love teaching English to all who want to learn and also show interest of the Gospel of Jesus Christ!

Last Thursday: Went to Kah Koh right after Weekly Planning / Lunch to visit Nisai and Thib to teach about the atonement! Plus, had help from them to teach Ming Kunthea about the commandments which is Praying, Reading the Scriptures, and attending Church!  Note that Ming Kunthea is one of the only few investigators I had during my training.

Last Friday: I visited Prek Ho along with Elder Child to teach Ming Thon and her son Sroh or "Fresh" who's less active about the importance of the atonement and then we took time to teach Somnang a Branch missionary of ours who wants to learn some English and learn how to Pray in English! (Throughout some night in the week he had some difficult he's facing in life so we helped him by encouraging him to have faith, pray daily with faith and attend Church!) Don't want to talk bad of him but he does take work to get him to do missionary work more often. You really can't make others help missionaries do missionaries especially if you're one as well.

Last Saturday: Okay, so on this day we taught a awesome lesson to a Less Active Family, mainly teaching Look Poo Vwibol! All about the atonement me and Elder Child shared him a scripture in Mosiah 14:4-5 describing how much God and Jesus Christ love ALL of us! That Christ suffered for our sins so that we can receive forgiveness from our past sins! As we shared to scripture with him the Holy Spirit's presence was strong and Look Poo Vwibol LOVES that scripture that stuck. He realized that if he actually continues to follow God and Christ, plus apply the atonement every day we will continue to feel happier! After that we taught Look Poo Hang about the atonement and the sacrament. Then, we traveled to Kah Koh to visit Nisai and taught him the 10 commandments and why they're important to follow in our lives. Also, after that we visit Ming Konthea ounce again to teach her the 10 commandments! During the day it was super rainy and stormy like the Saturday before! But we traveled back safely, and this time my inner tube didn't tangle in my wheel! YEAH! Hahaha! I love how Ming Konthea's always willing to listen and learn from me and Elder Child! So excited that she'll be baptized soon on the 21st of June hopefully! (Yes, her baptismal date's changed but it's alright! We want to make sure that she remembers all we taught her about the Gospel of Jesus Christ because that's more important then just going over the motions of teaching lessons!)

Yesterday: Church was phenomenal as usual! Here's how's it awesome not only that Ming Konthea's still committed to keep coming to Church, but Look Poo Vwibol and his family returned back to church! It's been an awesome Sabbath day hearing talks from Poo Hang and a NeaMing! Spirit's strong! I love attending church and fellow shipping with all members and investigators! (TRANSFER CALL ALERT!) I will be moving to Pochentong, (in the city of Phnom Penh) with a NEW COMPANION named Elder Olsen!!!!

We'll I don't believe it's happening but I am leaving Ta Khmao! My goodness, I am really going to miss all who I served in Branch 2 of Ta Khmao! So this week I am saying good bye to all I serve in this area and will be packing like crazy! Love you all! Please keep me in your prayers! Thank you so much Elder McGavin and Elder Child from teaching me so many things about this mission! I learned so much from both you! You guys are the best! Well, I will be posting next week! I REALLY LOVE MY MISSION! Will be posting next week!

Episode 11 - Laziness is a sin. Sunday, June 7, 2015

ជំរាបសួរ!,
Well, well, well... I am  close to be done... being trained from my "dad" Elder McGavin to my "step-dad" Elder Child. Last weeks been a hectic one, but I am still living.
It's been another crazy, and "mostly" adventurous week in Ta Khmao! (Had to be very honestly brief about this week!)

Last Tuesday: Had an exchange with Elder Chao!!! ... again! And .... an Elder I don't really respect named Elder Kim, throughout this day... I wasn't able to proselyte with both of the brethren because Elder Kim shows NO true desire to serve the Lord.... meaning he slept in for the day. Elder Child had experience with this Elder already so I kinda know what was coming. Me and Elder Chao don't want to bother Elder Kim at all as he sleeps in...  because we don't want to pull a BIG problem or Fuss...with him... *sigh* That's all how I want to describe this day! I love Elder Chao he's been awesome has true desire to serve the Lord with me, but Elder Kim, my goodness what a sad thing that he just want to serve a mission just so he can "earn" or get himself a Moto from his Brother. I spend this day on doing a whole... lot of studying in the apartment in most of this day...

Last Wednesday: Had another exchange with អែលឌើរ ឈូក or Elder Chouk, a way better time than yesterday, I found a Investigator's home with him within my area as Elder Chouk helped me find this investigator! This investigator's named មីង ណារី and has a grandson who's very interested on learning about the Church!  So glad we found her and the family who really wants to be baptized. She and her family were taught a lot about the Gospel!  Later on, on this day I and the Sisters taught a Lesson in English Class in a big class session about words that has the letter X on them! It's been to teach many who wants come to learn the English language and the Gospel!

Last Thursday: On most of this day! (Reunited back to work/fun with Elder Child) We just had Zone Conference...First and Last Zone Conference for me to hear from President and Sister Moon, because we have a new mission president who's serving in this mission soon named President and Sister Christensen! I love Moon's remarks in Zone Conference and I learned so much from them! During the session of Zone Conference they emphasized on how to explain investigators and members about how to feel the most spiritual experience when partaking the Sacrament every week at best! The Zone Conference in the East Zone ( Zone, where I work in) was fantastic! Me and Elder Child apply these lessons to our lessons to share with some members and less actives! Hope we'll help many feel more uplift and have greater desire to KNOW the invitation of Christ and accept or continue to accept his invitations!

Last Saturday: Had to visit the SOS Medical Facility to get my foot checked again, so I can continued to proselyte and invite many in my area to come to Christ! We just continued to visit members and less-actives and share decent lessons about the true importance of the Sacrament which we all partake every Sunday! We went to Kah Koh to visit members and share to same lesson. Were going to meet មីង គន្ធា but we couldn't because it's been raining there and she's somewhere else from farther distance! Bike got busted while driving back home from Kah Koh!

Yesterday: Fast and Testimony Meeting! Heard so many fantastic testimonies in church! I even bore testimony and really explain we can all truly apply the atonement in our lives every week by being willing to partake of the Sacrament! Oh and a part of my ward family visited me! Hahaha!
Gotta blast quickly sorry I couldn't say as much as what I've been doing, but I am becoming a lot more busier hastening on the Lords work with Elder Child! Thank you all so who's been consistently praying for me! Love you all!  I am going to keep pressing on! Hopefully this week I'll be able to help many more to come to Christ! HOLDING TO THE IRON ROD! GOD SPEED!

Episode 10 - Exchanging in Training these days. Sunday, May 31, 2015

ជំរាបសួរ,

I remember throughout my mission, I heard several individuals read my name tag and said/react the following "Oh Elder Live?! LIVE .... Not dead!" Hahaha!  I had a terrific week in តាខ្មៅ!  Lots of things got a lot better throughout my time with Elder Child last week!  Here's how the Missionary Fun went last week! (Briefly):

Last bit of P-day and Tuesday: Had an exchange for a couple days with អែលឌើរ ចៅ! (Elder Chao) A native Elder from Phnom Penh! We just did some contacting or talking to some people with in the area and taught the guards of the Branch I work in! Plus, I visited a family I haven't met in a while with him, seeing how they were doing and taught them a lesson on the importance of Agency! Elder Chao's great! He even speaks English super good it's amazing!

Last Wednesday: Me and Elder Child taught a lesson in English Class in the Easy Area about the Letter T and pronouncing "T-h"'s like the words. It was super fun teaching. From a Khmer's perspective from learn English saying the TH sound's kinda complicated. Hahaha! I love to selflessly teach many of the English language!

Last Thursday:  Visited Svay Rolom to discover some parts of the area I didn't visit yet. Attempted to find the Devil's playground. (Couldn't still find it!) We spent a whole lot of time contacting some people in Prek Ho and then we taught a lesson to a guard of the Church!

Last Friday: We got really busy on this day! As we proselyted in Prek Ho and other parts of the area I don't completely know! We just friendly talk to many people about the Church! (Although some people may not call us, we love to develop some friendships with people we take time talking to.) Officially discovered new parts of the area I never visited yet like the Devil's Playground!

Last Saturday: Kah Koh! Going to farthest area of the Branch ounce again... by Bike  me and Elder Child work in! Taught another lesson to our investigator Ming Kunthia, Kunthea, Konthea or... មីង គន្ធា! (with another member to help us!) We taught her about The Gospel of Jesus Christ! She has so much desire to be baptized that we scheduled her Baptismal date to be on the 14th of JUNE! She's been practicing praying to Heavenly Father a lot with her older Sister who's already a member!

Yesterday: (We did a bit of contacting near the church and then meet a investigator I hadn't met for a while because he said he was really busy named Roat or រ័ត្ន! He's been taught a lot of the Church from past missionaries. I am sure some you are familiar with this individual from one of my last Blog posts!) Church's been phenomenal again!  មីង គន្ធា has came to church many times already! In this Sabbath day, we had another PEC Meeting with the current Takhmao Branch 2 President before Church starts. Throughout this session of church we watched a half hour movie of Jesus Christ and His atonement! With the congregation! The Holy Spirit has been strong throughout this day, even when I was fasting, hoping to be able to find new investigators very soon throughout this transfer with Elder Child this upcoming week!

Me and Elder Child are really hoping to find new investigators, and CBRs we haven't met yet as we continue to serve here! (The week was centralized on a whole lot of contacting and discovering new parts of the area so that we can continue to invite many to Christ better!) It's been a really fun week last week! មីង គន្ធា has been one of the most solid investigators we had yet and she's super close to becoming Baptized! Some of you may wonder about Yu Lim or យ៉ូលីម from one post, haven't met him in a while or a couple weeks so we don't have a baptismal date for him yet. However, we're hoping he'll come back to English Class so we can teach him more of the Gospel and have a Baptismal date! I love my mission so much.   I really hope each and everyone of you reading this are doing fantastic!

Thank you all who's been keeping me in your prayers, each of you are "Fantastic"!! (A bit of you might catch this reference.) I still have a testimony that Missionary Work is one the absolute best ways to serve the Lord! I love doing so much selfless work as much as I can with Elder Child for the Lord! I learned so much from my "step-dad" Elder Child! He's taught me so much as I finish my training as he's my current trainer!! I believe in miracles, and I will never deny them throughout this mission! I have a lot of LOVE for all I have been serving within the Branch! This mission makes me know the Doctrine of Christ a WHOLE lot better! Well, I am going to keep this up! Love you all! (Gotta blast!) I am going to do my best to stay positive in this mission!

I honor part of this post to Elder L. Tom Perry an apostle, who passed away. Thank you for all from your marvelous counsels that are of the Lord! God bless you!

"And now it came to pass that the burdens which were laid upon Alma and his brethren were made light; yea, the Lord did strengthen them that they coulbear up their burdens with ease, and they did submit cheerfully and with patience to all the will of the Lord."

As I was discovering more of my area in Prek Ho with Elder Child. Here is a drowned home perhaps from the past Rainy season! (Rainy Season hasn't started yet.)

Episode 9 - The search for the Devil's Playground. Sunday, May 24, 2015

ជំរាបសួរ!,

I had a better week than last, still tough, but it's been a great one! Here's how that week went:

Last Tuesday: Had a good District Meeting that's centralized about the Branch and District leaders. Throughout this day, I did some contacting for English Class, I love contacting for English Class! This day me, Elder Child, and a Branch Missionary went to go visit a Less Active woman in Prek Ho named Ming Sophoan, as we met her and wanted to share a lesson with her than all of a sudden it turns out that she lost so much faith, just because the Look Poo (her husband) of the family had turned angry at The Church because he assumes that the Church has a lot to do with him being fired from his Job he used to have. However, that's not the case... it's the Service Center that fired him from him not doing his job. Me and Elder Child bore testimony of The Church and Faith in Jesus Christ to her. (We really did the best we can to invite her back to Christ.) It really sucks, that this family has NO desire to come back to church. That broke my heart for a little while. However... we all have agency.

Last Wednesday: Supposedly, in the morning, the current Takhmao missionaries including me visit a member's home to do service, however we couldn't do it because the member's not home and so can't do the service that she wanted us to do.... In English Class, we were teaching the advanced class on how to pronounce the letter X and how it's pronounced in some words, we helped them to read and understand what to say, and how to say some words in English! We even go around helping them fill out sample resumes in the Lesson so that way they can have a idea on how to fill out Resumes in the future. Which's super fun!

Last Thursday: Me and Elder Child took time to find a particular area in Prek Ho called The Devil's Playground, while attempting to find this area as it's raining on our way Biking, we had so much complications on finding this particular area, that we can't find it. So we just contact people to just talk about the Church, converse with some people about English Class!

Last Friday: We just took time to visit other Less Actives in our area in Ta Khmao and explained the importance of agency! Plus visited a couple of active members and encouraged them to make good use of agency so that we can continue to have true happiness and peace our lives. (We even discussed examples and blessings what happens when we use agency for good!)

Last Saturday: We visit another Less Active Member named Look Poo Vwibol who lives around in Svaay Rolom, who has complications of coming back to church. We just took time to discuss some scriptures and shared the same lesson about Agency! Then we visited Kah Ko! To visit some members home and discuss the same lesson. Later on, we had to go home a bit early because Elder Child wasn't feeling so well. However, he got better quick has he needed to rest in our apartment.

Yesterday: Church's been phenomenal! Had a Priesthood Executive Meeting with the 2/3 of the Branch Presidency and the Elder's Quorum President. After Church we taught another lesson with Ming Kunthea about the Plan of Salvation other members or her friends joined in! (and a Branch Missionary joined and help us as well) It was super fun to explain the plan of salvation to her. Spirit was strong as I explained with Elder Child every part of the Plan of Salvation in one lesson! I just love the moments when I help anyone come closer to Christ and become Baptized. (Now, all the glory goes to God as I teach her with Elder Child, and I bare witness that it's the gift of tongues that helps me a lot in this mission! )

Well, at this time I want to explain the importance of placing trust in God in all that we do in life. If we were to take time to trust God that he'll help us in our needs physically and spiritually he'll always be here for us! I am still determined to keep serving the Lord. No matter, how much difficulties I face in this mission, I will still keep serving the Lord with the best I got! I will NEVER call God a liar when he called me to serve here in Cambodia! I know God loves me and ALL of us and he's the true miracle worker, I am here to be the best instrument I can for the Lord! Please keep me in your prayers. I love you all! I thankful to have Elder Child to be another trainer for me! (Get a load of this last week I learned to make stir-fry or Chaa! Thanks a lot Elder Child! Love you "Step-dad"! Hehehe!)

"Pray always, that you may comoff conqueroryea, that you may conquer Satan, and that you may escape the hands of the servants of Satan that do uphold his work." - D&C 10:5

One day when we were finding a place in Prek Ho called "The Devil's Playground"... (Shoes and pants got muddy while trying to find this particular area in this day.)
